Targeting flow

A contact model that can be inspected before large sends.

Audience keeps recipient data, grouping, preference state, and saved targeting logic close to the delivery surfaces that use them.

01
Contacts

Collect contacts

Import CSV files or use the API to create contacts with email, names, subscription state, and custom fields.

02
Lists

Organize lists

Group contacts into explicit lists when a campaign or automation needs a named audience bucket.

03
Segments

Save segments

Build manual or rule-backed segments that can be resolved at send time and inspected before launch.

04
Topics

Respect topics

Keep product updates, security notices, onboarding, and marketing preferences visible before bulk send.

Segment preview

Resolve a recipient set before a campaign or workflow uses it.

Saved lists and segments make targeting explainable: operators can inspect the rule, estimate the recipient set, and keep preference checks visible.

Audience surface

Enough structure for lifecycle email without a separate CDP.

The goal is not to replace every data warehouse. It is to keep the recipient context Sendix needs near the sends it controls.

Single audience model

Contacts, lists, segments, topics, and properties sit together instead of being duplicated across campaigns.

Subscription state

Contact state and topic preferences can be checked before lifecycle or broadcast sends target a recipient.

Searchable contacts

Find contacts by email, name, or list membership when support needs to inspect what a user can receive.

Broadcast targeting

Materialize campaign recipients from lists and segments while keeping suppressions and topics visible.

Lifecycle inputs

Segments can become the audience layer for onboarding, reactivation, product education, and notices.

Use cases

Audience data becomes more useful when delivery can act on it.

Lists, segments, and topics make recipient decisions visible before messages hit a queue.

Product announcements

Target qualified users while respecting topic preferences and subscription state.

Lifecycle education

Drive onboarding and reactivation with segments your operators can inspect.

Operational notices

Reach affected contacts with a controlled target set and delivery outcome trail.

Built into the sending workspace

Keep recipients, preferences, content, and delivery in one place.

Start free, import a small contact set, and grow into campaigns or automations when your targeting model is ready.

FAQ

Audience questions before you import contacts.

The main concerns are ownership of contacts, grouping behavior, and whether preference state is visible before sending.

Is Audience only for marketing campaigns?

No. Audience data supports broadcasts, lifecycle workflows, product notices, onboarding, and operational messages that need a known recipient set.

Can contacts be added without CSV?

Yes. The dashboard supports imports and the API exposes audience contact paths for product-driven contact creation.

Do lists and segments own contact records?

No. Lists and segments group contacts. Removing a contact from a segment does not delete the underlying contact record.

How does Sendix handle preferences?

Topics and subscription state are part of the audience model so targeting can account for preference and suppression checks before sending.
